Deplores the European Civil Service Tribunal judgment published on 22 May 2014 condemning the EESC for breaching the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union when dismissing one of its staff members in 2013; also deplores the ruling handed down on 8 October 2014 in Case T-530/12 P, M. B. G. v EESC, in which the General Court found against the EESC in connection with the reporting of irregularities concerning the former Secretary-General by the head of the EESC Legal Service; calls on the EESC and its new Secretary-General to take the steps required to prevent further serious breaches of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, to inform the EESC Bureau, the members, and the entire staff about the content of ...[+++]the two judgments, and to draw their attention to the fact that officials and other staff covered by the Staff Regulations have an obligation to report irregularities and that the EESC Bureau is an appropriate body to receive such reports; also asks to be informed about the total legal expenses incurred in the last five years in staff cases ultimately dealt with in the courts or by the Ombudsman;

11. Reconfirms its position that, in the interests of transparency, declarations of financial interests of members of all Union institutions should be accessible on the Internet via a public register; notes the response of the EESC, in particular the letter of the Vice-President of EESC concerning the observation of the Parliament that the members of the EESC did not declare their financial interests, and requests that the EESC take steps to make public the relevant information, and to follow up this issue in its Annual Activity Report;

12. Reconfirms its position that, in the interests of transparency, declarations of financial interests of members of all Union institutions should be accessible on the Internet via a public register; notes the response of the EESC, in particular the letter of the Vice-president of EESC concerning the observation of the Parliament that the members of the EESC did not declare their financial interests, and requests that the EESC take steps to make public the relevant information, and to follow up this issue in its Annual Activity Report;

12. Welcomes the willingness of the EESC to accommodate the suggestion of the Parliament in its above-mentioned resolution of 5 May 2010, that travel expenses of members of the EESC should be based only on actual travel costs (and that daily allowances should be equal to those received by the Members of the European Parliament), and takes note of the letter of the EESC President on this matter; requests the EESC to report on the further progress on this issue;

Support may be granted to farmers over 55 years of age but not yet of retirement age, who decide to stop all commercial farming activity definitively after having practised farming for at least 10 years before stopping. Support is also available to farm workers – family helpers or paid farm workers – of the same age, belonging to a social security scheme, who have devoted at least half of their working time to farm work during the five years before stopping.
