Croatia is hereby authorised to exempt gas oil used to operate specialised machinery used in humanitarian demining on its territory from taxation.

Calls on states concerned by an internal conflict to facilitate the work done by such NGOs and calls especially on the Government of Colombia to facilitate humanitarian demining programmes and related activities in the context of local or regional humanitarian agreements, for the sake of the civil population; considers that failure to facilitate a verification process in respect of humanitarian demining is a violation of the humanitarian spirit of the Ottawa Convention;

16. Recalls the invaluable contribution to the work of the Convention made by the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations, the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining and regional and other organisations;

10. Calls for increased resources to be made available for humanitarian demining, stockpile destruction, mine risk education and the care, rehabilitation and social and economic reintegration of mine victims in areas under the control of NSAs;

Commissioner, in addition to further simplifying your proposal – thereby arriving at three budget lines: one general, one relating to research and one relating to humanitarian landmine clearance – we have further simplified the proposed comitology, and we hope that Parliament will approve this, considering that an advisory committee will suffice instead of a management committee, for the very reason that, in the interests of coherent interpretation, we feel that the Commission is responsible for implementing the budget and must account for it with total transparency.
