Esta aseveración es aún más inaceptable si se tiene en cuenta que trata de establecer límites al comportamiento futuro de un diputado, a pesar de que el Estatuto de los diputados dispone en su artículo 2 que «los diputados serán libres e independientes» y en su artículo 3, apartado 1, (junto con el artículo 6, apartado 1, del Acta relativa a la elección de los Diputados al Parlamento Europeo por sufragio universal directo, de 20 de septiembre de 1976) que «los diputados [...] no estarán sujetos a instrucciones ni mandato imperativo alguno».
This statement is all the more intolerable since it intends to establish a framework for the future behaviour of a Member notwithstanding Article 2 of the Statute for Members provides that ‘Members shall be free and independent’ and Article 3(1) thereof (along with Article 6(1) of the Act of 20 September 1976 concerning the election of the members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage) provides that ‘Members (.) shall not be bound by any instructions and shall not receive a binding mandate’.
