A raíz de las solicitudes de seis Estados del Pacífico (Islas Cook, República de Nauru, República de Palau, República de las Islas Marshall, Niue y Estados Federados de Micronesia) de adherirse al acuerdo sucesor del actual Convenio de Lomé, el Consejo ha decidido establecer contacto con Nueva Zelanda, así como los Gobiernos de las Islas Cook y Niue, para plantearles si, a su juicio, esos dos países tienen respectivamente capacidad jurídica para convertirse en parte contratante de los acuerdos sucesores con los Estados ACP.
Further to the requests from six Pacific States (the Cook Islands, the Republic of Nauru, the Republic of Palau, the Republic of Marshall Islands, Niue and the Federated States of Micronesia) to become party to successor arrangements to the Lomé Convention, the Council decided to contact New Zealand as well as the governments of the Cook Islands and Niue in order to clarify from a legal point of view whether these two countries have the necessary legal capacity to become a contracting parties in the successor arrangements with the ACP States.
